Operational drift forecasting. Under 2 minutes.
When every hour expands the search area, speed matters. Run probabilistic drift forecasts in under 2 minutes—no setup required.
"Given the last known position and time of an object, vessel, person, or spill, where is the most likely position now, and where should resources be deployed?"
Free to try. No setup required.
What is AldaDrift?
AldaDrift is a global, self-serve drift forecasting platform for time-critical maritime decisions. Using Copernicus and NOAA forecast data with OpenDrift particle modeling, it generates probabilistic drift forecasts for search areas, analysis, and reconstruction—in under two minutes, via web interface or API.
Example
From operational response to analysis and liability.
Operational. A 12‑meter sailing vessel reports engine failure 30 NM offshore at 14:30 UTC. Within two minutes, AldaDrift generates probabilistic search areas for 6, 12, and 24 hours ahead. The coordinator deploys search assets based on the 90% probability area and updates the forecast as new information arrives.
Analysis and liability. After a cargo container is lost overboard, an insurer runs a backward drift simulation to estimate origin and liability exposure.

Example results
Probability contours and centroid for SAR; animation, drift trace, and oil budget from a real mission in the AldaDrift app.
Downloadable outputs
Every mission lets you download results for search areas, analysis, and reconstruction: a formatted report, GIS-ready contours, and the full raw simulation data.
- Report — A PDF briefing with map, probability areas, centroid position, and time-slice summary for sharing and documentation.
- Contours (GIS) — Probability contours in multiple formats for easy integration with GIS software: GeoJSON, Shapefile, KML, and GeoTIFF.
- Raw results (NetCDF) — Full output from the drift model in NetCDF format, including all particle states at every time step for advanced analysis or custom processing.
